I’m Teinesha Smallwood, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker helping women, adults, and young people throughout North Carolina heal, grow, and thrive. Through convenient virtual therapy, I provide a supportive space where you can slow down, speak honestly, and focus on yourself.
I support clients who are healing from trauma, adjusting to major life changes, managing chronic pain, or navigating anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and other mental health concerns. I especially value working with people in rural communities, where access to quality mental health care may be limited.
Having spent much of my career working in the school system, I understand the importance of education and the heavy responsibilities carried by educators, students, and families. I enjoy supporting women, parents, students, educators, and individuals adjusting to separation or divorce.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and relatable. I believe genuine human connection matters, and I value lived experience alongside professional knowledge. You are welcome to come to therapy as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out or find the perfect words.
During our sessions, I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches to help you better understand your experiences, recognize your strengths, and develop practical tools for moving forward. Depending on your needs and preferences, I may also incorporate music and other forms of creative expression. My care is strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy quiet evenings at home with my husband and children, laughing at Facebook reels, listening to music, and learning about different cultures.
I am currently accepting new clients ages 10 and older throughout North Carolina. If you are ready for a safe and welcoming space where you can explore, heal, and grow, I would be honored to support you.
You don’t have to do life alone.
